Calcium-D-Glucarate Review

Calcium-D-Glucarate Review Calcium-D-Glucarate is a calcium salt similar to glucaric acid, a naturally occurring chemical. Glucaric acid can be found in our bodies as well as in fruits and vegetables such as apples, oranges, brussels sprouts, grapefruit, broccoli and cabbage. Calcium-D-Glucarate is made by combining glucaric acid with calcium in order to be marketed as supplements and medicine. One study suggests that oral supplementation of Calcium-D-Glucarate has been shown to inhibit beta-glucuronidase, an enzyme that is prodyced by colonic microflora and is involved in Pase II liver detoxification. An ncreased level of beta-glucuronidase activity has been found to be associated with an increased risk for various cancers, most specifically breast, prostate, and colon cancers which are all hormone-dependent. On the other hand, oral Calcium-D-Glucarate may also play in the regulation of estrogen metabolism and acts as a lipid-lowering agent. It is also known as Calcium Glucarate, Saccharic acid, Calcium-D-Saccharate, Glucaric acid.
